Located next to the main road on Jalan Tandok in Bangsar, Naj & Belle is stand alone, modern looking café building that serves up Western food and cakes. This hard-to-miss café is spacious with its own free parking lot, and unlike other cafés, they are not linked together with other shops. 

The moment we step foot into the café, a bubbly waitress immediately recognize my friend and welcomed us into the place. Looking around, it was a full-house and the waitress was desperately trying to find us a seat. Just then, she spotted two empty spaces at the counter top and asked if we would mind if we did not have a proper table but instead be seated at the beautiful marble counter top. 

Well, we definitely did not mind and immediately agreed. 

Although the window was situated behind us, we got a really good view of the entire café. It was very modern looking, with marble white and Seafoam green themed interior. Potted plants dotted the place as well to give it a fresh, natural ambiance. Everything was well spaced-out and neat, giving the whole place an orderly and contemporary look. 

We asked the waitress for their best-selling cake, and she straight away pointed at the plates of Watermelon Cakes sitting in the cold display cases. 

The Watermelon Cake is exactly what the name suggests. There were two layers of pistachio sponge cake and lychee infused cream separately, and right in the middle of them, a slice of watermelon. Capping off the whole cake was another layer of cream, with slices of strawberry, a small piece of lychee and pumpkin seeds. Additionally, the cake was plated on a cold, marble plate, dusted with red cake crumbs around it. 

The whole presentation was just simple and beautiful. 

We wasted no time and immediately dug into the cake while the waitress brought us a big jug of water. 

The moment I bit into the cake, all the flavours just came together. The cake was soft yet crunchy at the same. The cream had traces of lychee flavour in it. The watermelon, strawberry and lychee were juicy and burst with flavour, and the pumpkin seeds gave the whole cake a distinct texture and taste to it. Furthermore, as our fork cut through the watermelon and the watermelon juice starts to blend with the lychee cream, it became a whole new sweet flavour!

The cake was simply refreshing and easy to eat, and within 7 minutes, we were already polishing off the last bits of the cake. This cake will probably be the best fruit-themed cake I have ever had. 

However, though this slice of cake was quite big, the price tag attached to it was big as well. RM17.50 for a few layers of sponge cake and cream, with small slices of fruits seems a bit over-priced to me, thought I do have a feeling that I was paying partially for their rent and ambiance. Therefore, it is a heavy price to pay for good food.
